Fisherman's Festival Only the First of Great Things to Come!
This past weekend I had the pleasure to sample some of the wonderful activities at Boothbay Harbor's Fisherman's Festival. In between making breakfast for our great guests and refreshing their rooms on Saturday, I had the chance to mosey downtown to down a few delicious tidbits of food and drink and view some of the day's events, including the Tug of War bouts. Although the competitive nature of Tug of War was clearly in evidence, the sportsmanship and camaraderie of the teams was even more so.
Is Spring Finally Coming to Boothbay Harbor?
"A possible accumulation of one to three inches of snow," Charlie Lopresti, Chief Meteorologist for Channel 13, solemnly predicted.
Love Blooms at Bayberry House!
Braving the trials and tribulations of an impending blizzard, three men with romantic souls made their diverse ways to Bayberry House on February 14th, each bestowing a special Valentine's Day gift on the woman he loves.
With a winter weather warning on the horizon, we were unsure whether the guests who had reserved rooms for our Valentine's Day getaway would be arriving. Apparently, we did not take into account the resolve of these spirited New Englanders and their lovely ladies.
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening in Porter Preserve
Whose woods these are I think I know . . .
"Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost has always been one of my favorite poems. It tells the story of a person who stops to admire the beauty of a snowy woodland scene before continuing on his way.
Bayberry House's New Website
As we are sure you've noticed, Bayberry House has had an electronic facelift! We have commissioned a new website, hopefully making it easier for our guests and prospective guests to access information about the bed and breakfast. The biggest change, however, is that we have added the capacity for you to check availability and make reservations online. Over the past summer, we had several guests suggest we offer online reservations as they felt it would make the booking process much faster and easier. If you are a person, however, who would sti
Another Great Evening at Boothbay Harbor's Opera House - The April Verch Band
Karine and I had the pleasure of attending the January 10th performance of the April Verch Band at Boothbay Harbor's Opera House. The show was absolutely fantastic, as April, Cody, and Hayes performed a variety of covers and original tunes that had the audience clapping their hands, tapping their feet and, in the case of one little girl, dancing in the aisles! April's step dancing was amazing and the harmonies produced by the three band members were absolutely beautiful. Boothbay Harbor is so fortunate to have such a unique venue in town and the quality and the var
Helping to Build a Better Future - Going Green(er) in 2014
Our New Year's resolution this year is to do everything we can to make Bayberry House more eco-friendly. We are sorting our trash more thoroughly, trying to ensure that we recycle everything that we can. We have also installed more energy-efficient lighting and replaced some appliances that were using much more energy than they should. We also now supply a very eco-friendly line of natural marine guest amenities, Algotherm, which features recycled, bio-degradable packaging and no parabens or phenoxyethanol.
